As a child Jo found her own swim lessons were boring and too hard which is why she loved GRs structure and FUN! approach to swimming lessons. Her own children's swimming lessons weren't ideal either! Huge classes, no rewards for the children, lack of leadership, no enthusiasm.
GRs small class ratio of 6:1 works!
We sometimes get asked to do private lessons on a 121 basis. This can be a lot of pressure for little people. Small groups can help children settle as the focus is not just on them, also there's a little healthy competition involved as children and people naturally do this!
The classes have a unique structure, understanding that children learn by repetition and FUN! GR follow the Swim England Learn to Swim programme which ensures children are rewarded 3 times a year with certificates. These are awarded at the beginning of the last lesson of the term - followed by a structured fun session!
Beginners wear arm bands, lessons are held in the shallow end of the pool, where the instructors are in the water, down on the children's level.
This personal approach helps children settle into and look forward to their swimming lessons each week. The trust grows as we help the children take their first steps to swimming on their own....that moment when they find they can 'do it' is precious
